Montgomery County VINE Coverage
North Carolina's official service is the North Carolina Statewide Automated Victim Assistance and Notification system, known as NC SAVAN, running on the Appriss VINE and VINELink platform. The state describes SAVAN as an electronic link joining every North Carolina jail with Adult Corrections. For someone booked into the Montgomery County Detention Center, or held in covered state correctional custody, it is the main official alert path.
The service costs nothing and runs around the clock. Anyone can call in for a custody status. Anyone can register for change notices too. Victims who qualify under state law gain an extra court-event notification route. The program line is 1-877-627-2826, written as 1-877-NC SAVAN. Victim Support Services answers at 1-866-719-0108.
The official NC SAVAN page names the statewide service, lists the phone line, and links out to VINE.

The state page carries the program context, while the external VINELink interface handles the actual person search and registration.
Check an Arrest on VINELink
Start with the state explanation. Then open the VINELink North Carolina person search. This is a one-person lookup, not a browsable arrest list, so enter a name or an identifier the interface requests. Before treating a result as the right person, read the agency, facility, and custody details closely.
- Select North Carolina and choose the person-search route.
- Enter the available name or identifier with care.
- Compare possible records using facility, agency, age, or identifier details that are shown.
- Open the matching record and read its custody status before choosing notifications.
- Confirm urgent or unclear information with the detention center at 910-576-4261.
The VINELink person-search screen is the North Carolina route for a custody check.

The search screen returns a selected record. It is not a Montgomery County recent-arrest feed or a mugshot collection.
A name match alone means little when people share similar details. Compare identifiers and the custody location rather than guessing. Want the wider picture? The Montgomery County recent arrests hub sorts out how an arrest report, a jail booking, a court file, and a state record each answer different questions.
What VINE Shows After Arrest
VINE passes along custody information from participating agencies. Exact fields vary with the record and the state of the interface. Its core job is communicating status and supporting alerts, not publishing a police investigation or deciding a criminal case.
| Information | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Custody status | The participating system's current status, subject to updates |
| Agency or facility | The jail or correctional agency linked to the record |
| Person identifier | A field that can separate people with similar names |
| Release or transfer | A covered change that can trigger a notice |
| Notification option | A route to register contact details and a PIN |
VINE status is not an arrest report. Troy, Biscoe, or Mount Gilead Police may hold the event record itself. County intake information stays with the detention center. The clerk keeps the later court file, and NC Adult Correction records cover state custody, probation, parole, and related supervision.
Register for NC SAVAN Alerts
Once the correct record is selected, use the notification option VINE offers. Registration for custody changes is anonymous. A four-digit PIN acknowledges phone notices. The user may list more than one phone number or email address. Delivery options include phone, email, text, a mobile app, or TTY where offered.
- Confirm the selected person record.
- Choose the notification or registration control.
- Select each offered event and delivery method.
- Enter the contact details and create a four-digit PIN.
- Save the registration and update it if contact information changes.

The NC SAVAN FAQ explains PIN use, retries, exclusions, and transfer re-registration.

That FAQ is the key source for managing alerts after registration. It matters most when a person moves to a new agency.
When VINE Notifications Arrive
NC SAVAN operates daily. Delivery rules still vary by event and method. Phone notices generally go out from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., while critical release, escape, or capture notices can arrive at any hour, and email can too.
Miss a regular call and the system retries roughly every two hours during the calling window, for up to 24 hours. Critical-event calls retry every 30 minutes over the same span. The PIN lets a recipient acknowledge the call. Keep in mind these are statewide notification rules, not a promise about how fast Montgomery County finishes a booking or sends data.
Keep the jail number handy after registering. Technology, data entry, phone service, and contact settings can all affect delivery. VINE itself advises against treating the service as a sole safety plan. For immediate danger, call emergency services.
Transfers Require New Registration
NC SAVAN links the county jail with North Carolina Adult Corrections. Yet one registration never follows a person through every agency permanently. When someone transfers to another participating agency, SAVAN can fire off a transfer notice. The user must then call and register again. The new registration covers the person's record under the new agency's custody.
This rule changes what an alert means. It is a status update and a prompt at once. Note the receiving agency, locate the transferred record, and re-register. Skip that step. Later movement or release notices from the new agency may never reach the first registration.
The transfer rule also shows why VINE is an alert tool. It is not a permanent single-search arrest record. County jail admission is one stage. Transfer to state custody, release, and final court disposition sit at others. Hang onto the agency and identifier needed to find the right record again.
VINE Limits and Confirmation
VINE has real limits. It does not track every event that counts as an arrest. Police holds at a precinct or local facility stay out of the system. So do people a magistrate lets go before any jail booking. Juvenile and mental health facilities are excluded too. Timing also matters, since a person can sit somewhere between the arrest itself, transport, jail acceptance, identification, bond processing, and the moment the system catches up. A blank result there is not the same as proof that no arrest happened.
Federal custody sits outside this state service entirely. The Federal Bureau of Prisons and Immigration and Customs Enforcement each run their own locators. The U.S. Marshals offer no nationwide booking-photo search. So treat VINE silence on federal detention as meaningless.
Timing gaps have a fix of sorts. The Arrested Today page walks through the lag. It explains the gap between an arrest and the data showing up. Visitors can also go straight to the detention center at 206 Glen Road in Troy. The Sheriff's Public Resources page links NC SAVAN. The official Sheriff app handles outreach and tips, though it promises no roster or photo feed.
Custody Alerts and Court Outcomes
A release alert settles one narrow custody question. It does not erase the arrest or decide any charge. A transfer alert means the person moved between participating agencies. That is all it means. For public case information, use the North Carolina eCourts Portal. For an official or certified record, the Montgomery County Clerk of Superior Court is the right office. It is reachable at 910-571-3700.
Court events run a wide range. First appearance, bond conditions, continuances, and dismissal all appear in the case file. So do plea, acquittal, and judgment. The portal helps locate a case but is not the official court record. The clerk's file is.
No booking-photo gallery is offered here. VINE exists for one person's custody status and alerts, not for browsing faces. NC SAVAN, the jail, and the court each handle their own jobs.
